2009 Too Critical Movie Awards

With the end of the year approaching, I thought I'd hand out some awards to a couple of movies. The awards range in category, but every award winner is a movie that stood out to me in one way or another. So without further ado, here are the winners of the 2009 Too Critical Movie Awards

Trailer Trash: The Bounty Hunter

Gerard Butler has been a movie making machine since he kicked a dude into a hole in 2007's 300. I've seen many of his movies since, and at best they are mediocre -- especially the romantic comedies.  Well the gods have seen fit to have him try again, this time with a rather old looking Jennifer Aniston.  Not only was the trailer not funny, but it's one of those trailers where the entire plot is shown to you.

Review: Borderlands

*Note: I have the PC version of the game*

Hellgate: London left a horrible taste in my mouth. As much as I wanted to like that game, there was just too much wrong with it. So I decided that when another first person shooter with RPG elements and a Diablo loot system came along, I would tread a bit more carefully with my excitement. Enter — Gearbox Software’s Borderlands.

Review: Speed Racer

Oh Speed.

I was skeptical when I heard the Wachowskis were making a live action Speed Racer movie. I was skeptical after the first trailer came out. I was skeptical after reading the largely negative reviews. But after watching the movie, I’m surprised to say that this movie rocked my proverbial socks off. This movie is probably my second favorite G / PG rated movie in recent years — second only to The Incredibles.
